New Year’s Resolution–Check Your Credit Report

After reviewing lists of New Year’s resolutions from popular financial magazines and blogs, one that frequently pops up is checking your credit report. It’s not uncommon to find errors from one or more of the three credit reporting agencies, meaning if you’re not looking, an error could be damaging your credit score.

Even though you see numerous ones advertised as “free”, the only source for your free credit reports as authorized by Federal Law is http://www.annualcreditreport.com. You can get a free copy of your credit report every 12 months from each credit reporting company (Experian, Equifax, and Transunion).

So add this to your list of things to do!
